Spring 2009 Dance Recitals
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY FOR ALL OUR IMPORTANT RECITAL INFORMATION!

What is the Recital?
The recital is a dance revue where all the students get the opportunity to perform and showcase what they have been working on all year. For the May 30th Show, Dancing Babes and Preschool Combo classes will perform one number, Pre-K and K Combos will perform one or two numbers (teacher discretion) K2 Combos and Combo classes will perform two numbers. Most classes in the June 6th Shows will perform one number. The recital is a “big deal” for our students and takes much planning, preparation, and cooperation. Class attendance is critical to the success of your child’s performance.
What is the Recital Fee? In order to cover the costs associated with the recital (such as auditorium rental, lighting, programs, etc), a recital fee is collected. The recital fee is $30 per individual or $55 per family. Please don’t confuse this fee with the fall registration fee which is an annual administrative fee paid at the time of registration. This recital fee includes two tickets per family to the show. We try our best to put family members in the same show, however, if you are in two shows, you will get two tickets for each show. The recital fee is due by March 31, 2009.

When/Where is the Recital?
Our Dancing Babes, Preschool Combo, PreK Combo, K Combo, and K2 Combo classes will hold their recital on the tentative date of Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Palmer Ridge High School. This show will be split into two shows, with an intermission between the shows. The rehearsal will begin on May 30th at 9:00 am and the recital times will be 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
All other classes will hold their recital on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Palmer Ridge High School. There will be three shows and your show time and performance schedule will be posted in the dance studio by approximately May 1st. These shows will be Show 1, Show 2, and Show 3. Show 1 will be at 2:00 pm, Show 2 at 4:30 pm, and Show 3 will be at 7:00 pm. Rehearsal for these shows will be on Friday, June 5, starting at 4:00 pm.
Remember that dress rehearsal is mandatory for performing in the recital!
Session 5 for Dancers: Session 5 dates are from April 27th to June 6th . For those in the May 30th shows, your classes will not continue after the recital in May. Your tuition will reflect this shorter session.

Tickets:
Two tickets will be included with the recital fee. Anyone sitting in a seat needs to have a ticket (children under 3 can be lap kids at your discretion). No standing room is allowed in the auditorium. Those performing in the Show do not need tickets. For planning purposes, please let us know how many tickets your family needs on your student’s costume sizing form. ADDITIONAL TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE SATURDAY, MAY 16, 2009 FROM 9AM TO 12PM FOR $8.00 EACH. You may purchase up to 4 tickets per family on this day. If you need more than 4 additional tickets, we will put your name on our waitlist. We are hoping that with our new larger venue, we will be able to accommodate most requests.

DVD/Videos:
Performing Arts Media Group will be photographing during the dress rehearsal and taping all our recital shows. They will provide order forms to purchase videos on recital day. We do not allow personal videotaping during the June recitals, however, you may videotape during dress rehearsal.

Volunteers:
We need volunteers to help our recitals run smoothly. All morning classes or early afternoon classes will need one or two parents per class to help our performers backstage. Once the class is lined up to go on stage, these volunteers may watch from the side of the stage. We will also
need volunteers in other areas. It’s fun but exhausting. Let us know if you are interested.

Flowers and Stars:
Flowers (rose with a ribbon) may be preordered for $6. Stars (12” decorated star including your child’s name and picture along with the month and year) may also be preordered for $10. The stars will be on the “Wall of Stars” located in the foyer of the auditorium. Flowers and stars may be taken home with you after the recital. The deadline for these orders is May 16, 2009 for all shows.

Recital Program Advertising:
If you would like to advertise your business in our recital program, the order form and payment of $35 along with your business card is due by May 1, 2009.

Finale:
After the last number in each show, all dancers need to come backstage for a final bow. You may pick up your dancer at the stage area afterwards.

**IMPORTANT—ALL ACCOUNTS MUST BE PAID IN FULL FOR YOUR CHILD TO PERFORM IN THE RECITAL. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR ACCOUNT IS UP TO DATE AND DISCREPANCIES HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT PRIOR TO REHEARSAL.
